From a Christmas Polaroid to LTL Photo Art
A Camera That Opened the Door
My photography journey began when I was about twelve years old with a Polaroid camera I received for Christmas. I knew nothing about exposure, composition, lighting, or visual storytelling. What I did know was that there was something magical about pointing a camera at the world, pressing the shutter, and watching a moment become a photograph I could hold in my hands.
That simple camera opened a door that would stay open for the rest of my life.

Learning to See Through Film
As I grew older, I ventured into film photography. Film taught me lessons that still influence my work today: patience, intentionality, and the importance of seeing before pressing the shutter. Every frame mattered. There was no instant review screen and no opportunity to capture hundreds of images hoping one would work. Each photograph required thought and care, followed by the anticipation of waiting to see the results.
Some images succeeded. Others did not. But every roll of film taught me something.
One photograph, in particular, sparked my passion. It was a simple image of a flower with a bee resting on it. Looking back, it was not a technically perfect photograph, but it was the first image that made me realize photography could capture more than an object. It could preserve a moment, tell a story, and reveal beauty that often goes unnoticed. Many photographers begin their journey by photographing flowers, and for me, that simple image became an early reminder that beauty is often found in the smallest details.
The Power of Visual Storytelling
Over the years, photography remained part of my life even as my professional career followed a different path. My work in the multifamily housing industry allowed me to experience communities, architecture, landscapes, and people from a unique perspective. I came to appreciate how powerful visual storytelling can be, especially as multifamily marketing evolved from printed magazines and brochures to the internet, websites, and digital first impressions.
In multifamily housing, photography does more than document a property. It helps shape the way someone feels about a community before they ever step foot there. A single image can communicate warmth, energy, peace, quality, and care without a single word being spoken. It can highlight architecture, reveal lifestyle, create emotional connection, and help a prospective resident imagine what it might feel like to call that place home.
That realization helped reignite my passion for photography.
The Foundation for LTL Photo Art
What began as a hobby gradually became something more. Photography became a way to slow down, pay attention, and appreciate the details often overlooked in our busy lives. Whether photographing a coastal sunrise, a crashing wave, a quiet shoreline, or the unique character of a property, I found myself drawn to images that invite people to pause and experience a moment.
That renewed passion became the foundation for LTL Photo Art.
LTL Photo Art represents the culmination of a lifelong love of photography, a deep appreciation for beautiful places, and a desire to create images that can be enjoyed long after the moment has passed. Much of my work is inspired by coastal environments, particularly Clearwater Beach, Laguna Beach, and other locations where light, water, rocks, clouds, and movement come together to create something extraordinary.
For me, photography is about much more than taking pictures.
It is about learning to see.
It is about recognizing the way golden light dances across the water, noticing the texture of weathered rocks along the shoreline, anticipating the shape of a wave before it breaks, or discovering beauty in the smallest details of a tide pool. Photography teaches us to be present and reminds us that some of life’s most memorable moments are often the simplest.
This blog is an extension of that philosophy.
